A cesarean delivery also known as surgical birth, is a surgical practice used to deliver an infant. It needs regional anesthetic to prevent pain, and then horizontal or vertical incision in the lower abdomen to open the uterus (womb). Another incision is made in the uterus of the women to allow removal of the baby and placenta. Procedures, such as tubal ligation also known as sterilization, may also be considered during cesarean delivery.
