Birth control is otherwise known as contraception, is designed to prevent pregnancy. Below are different methods to control birth:
- Sperm can be prevented from getting to the eggs. Types include condoms, cervical caps, contraceptive sponges and diaphragms.
- Woman’s ovaries can be kept from releasing eggs which could get fertilized. Types include birth control pills, shots, vaginal rings, patches and emergency contraceptive pills.
- IUDs devices can be implanted into the uterus. The device can be kept in place for several years.
- Sterilization permanently prevents a woman from getting pregnant; it also prevents a man from being able to get a woman pregnant.
